DeSales University
DeSales University is a medium-sized, private, four-year Catholic university with a Salesian mission administered by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.Our priority is to give our students a quality, broad-based liberal arts and career-centered education. Students are exposed to Catholic teachings but are also afforded the luxury of exploring in an atmosphere of intellectual freedom. Everyone is treated with the dignity of the human person that they deserve. On January 28, 1961, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph McShea, was appointed Bishop of the Allentown Diocese by His Holiness, Pope John XXIII. This Diocese is composed of five counties in northeast Pennsylvania: Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill. One of the first actions of Bishop McShea was to make a study of the educational facilities of the Diocese.
Since the Allentown Diocese had been split off from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, it already possessed a well-organized elementary and high school educational system. It was evident, however, that the system needed to be enlarged. Bishop McShea announced that there would be a drive to obtain funds for the expansion of the high school system, and at the same time, he called attention to the fact that there was no Catholic college for men in the Diocese. At the request of the Bishop, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales agreed to assume the responsibility for establishing a liberal arts college to serve this need.

Distinguishing characteristics of the DeSales MBA program are an emphasis on executive skills development, general management orientation, integration of skills and values, and an attempt to link theory and practice.

The DeSales MBA program is intended to provide students with a sophisticated level of understanding of the basic functional areas of business, as well as an appreciation of the role of business in our pluralistic society and the international community in which it exists. The ethical dimension of personal and corporate behavior and decision-making will be stressed throughout the program. n addition to required courses — and in order to provide meaningful options, added breadth, greater diversity, and positive enrichment — a variety of elective courses will be scheduled as demand requires and resources permit. Any concentration course can be used as an elective.
