The Carnegie Mellon Board of Trustees bears ultimate responsibility for the university, its policies, organization, financing and governance.
The board appoints the president, to whom it delegates operating responsibilities for the university, and, it provides ongoing counsel to the president, sets strategic directions, and approves budgets and policies.
The president, in collaboration with trustees and members of the university community, appoints the senior leadership, including the provost, who is the chief academic officer, overseeing the educational mission of the university. The president also serves as a national and international ambassador for the university community and acts on behalf of the Board of Trustees, which delegates its authority to him.
TEPPER SCHOOL ONLINE MBA
Our Full-Time MBA program is completed during two years of study at the main Carnegie Mellon campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Students typically complete a summer internship between year one and year two of the Full-Time program. The student-led Graduate Business Association, along with 35 student clubs, is a key part of the MBA experience. Because the Tepper School Full-Time MBA program is close-knit, the experience is structured to give every student leadership opportunities. From club leadership to experiential learning projects, and case competitions to student initiatives, there is a dynamic relationship among our students, alumni, faculty and recruiters. The average class size boasts an impressive student-to-faculty ratio, with approximately 75 students in core classes and 35 in elective courses.What sets the Full-Time Tepper School MBA program apart is the emphasis upon leadership and analytics as a career accelerator. Through the Accelerate Leadership Center, students will assess their leadership behaviors and competencies, and develop a customized leadership plan that features one-on-one coaching alongside mentors and instructors. In tandem with the leadership training is the school’s renowned analytics preparation, which integrates fundamental analytical tools that exceed the traditional business school norm. Students will master topics including optimization, predictive and prescriptive modeling, as well as techniques for responding to uncertain, complex business issues.

The coursework for the Full-Time, Online and Part-Time MBA programs begins with an emphasis on the core base of management skills and business drivers. Centered on economics, behavioral sciences and quantitative methods, the set of core courses is structured to provide an integrated view of business and prepare students to manage and lead unstructured, complex business problems.
In the first year (Full-Time) and first half of the program (Part-Time), the MBA curriculum concentrates on those engines that influence business results. In year two and the second half of the program, students are ready to make high-level contributions. Students are given an impressive range of electives and leadership options that accelerate learning and career opportunities.
